Take Back Your Power

We believe curiosity is your superpower.

That’s why we create hands-on, peer-based learning experiences to explore AI together, not alone.

We’re building supportive, no-pressure learning spaces where AI newcomers can engage generative AI tools in community with others. Through hands-on workshops, small group sessions, and fun exercises, we help people move from overwhelmed to empowered. Whether you're brand new to generative AI tools or already using them regularly, you’ll leave with something real: new ideas, new skills, and often, new relationships.

Participants in our sessions have so much fun they don’t even realize they are learning.

At First Prompt, we believe AI shouldn’t be something that you are left alone to “figure out.” Everyone deserves the chance to explore this technology with confidence, and with other people by your side.

About The Founder

I’m Mara Bolis, founder of First Prompt. I’ve spent over twenty years helping people and communities access opportunity, grow their economic power, and drive meaningful change.

My career has taken me from global nonprofits like Oxfam to roles in finance and government, including work at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation. Most recently, I served as a Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School, where I taught and mentored students on inclusive policy and innovation.

Throughout my career, I’ve designed and led trainings for a wide range of groups from corporate teams to women’s networks, grassroots leaders, and public officials. My focus has always been the same: create practical, hands-on learning environments where people feel confident experimenting with new ideas and tools.

I started First Prompt after seeing so many smart, capable women around me who were curious about AI but felt unsure where to start. That’s why I created something different. First Prompt is a place where you can show up as you are, ask questions without judgment, and build skills in a way that feels empowering, relevant, and even fun.

Based on a July 2025 First Prompt session with 14 fellows from the Mountaintop International program. All participants completed a pre/post self-assessment.
