AI is reshaping women's worlds.
First Prompt helps women redraw the map.
Through community-based learning, research, and advocacy, First Prompt builds the awareness, evidence, and confidence women need to shape what's next.
How the work connects
Workshops, Research, Advocacy, Advisory. Four routes, meeting at the person using AI.
How we work
Hands-on sessions where participants use AI on real tasks and leave with concrete outputs and measurable increases in confidence.
How women actually use and feel about AI, studied directly, plus before-and-after testing that measures what changes. It builds the evidence behind the work and adds to the wider record.
Elevating the user experience into policy and industry conversations about AI.
Confidential one-on-one guidance for leaders working through their own AI adoption, so they can lead their organizations through AI transformations with confidence.
A different approach
Women feel differently about generative AI, and the research says those concerns are well-founded. Women are more alert to AI's errors, more careful with their data, more protective of their own judgment, and more likely to worry that using AI looks like cheating. The mainstream reads all of that as falling behind. We read it as paying attention: women are attuned to risks in systems they had little part in building.
As a result, most mainstream approaches to onboarding women and other more skeptical users into using AI don't work for them. We built First Prompt to amplify women's unique preferences and provide solutions that are more participatory, accessible and fun.
No hype. No expert-worship. No pretending the risks aren't real. But also with a recognition that if women don't engage with these tools, we leave power on the table. The result is measurable gains in capability, confidence and agency. And, in the end, better implementation of AI for women and everybody else.
What partners say
"The First Prompt workshop was a fan favorite. Mara brought her passion and enthusiasm to the topic. I couldn't recommend Mara enough as a great teacher and as an expert on effectively using AI in the workplace!"
"Meeting Mara made me realize that there is a lot that we have not yet done to incorporate AI tools in our work. Since then, Mara has been invaluable in training our staff and, most importantly, working with us in developing AI policy. I would highly recommend anyone to tap into her experience and expertise."
"Through her workshops, writing and thought leadership, she's helped our founders move from AI-curious to AI-confident, while never losing sight of safety, equity and women's economic power."
Womansplaining AI
Community doesn't stop at the workshop door. This is where it plays out in public, every week.
